Meet Río

Yoel, widely known as Río, is a dynamic DJ and music producer originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. A native Spanish speaker, he moved to North Carolina at 17 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business from UNCW. His musical journey took off with hosting Latin nights in Wilmington, where his ability to create immersive, high-energy experiences quickly set him apart.

With over 20 years of experience across both club scenes and private events, Río has become a respected name in the DJ community. He is celebrated for his deep mastery of Latin genres—Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton—while also incorporating modern beats and custom edits that elevate each performance. His passion for music production adds a distinctive layer to his live sets, often surprising audiences with his seamless integration of original remixes.

Río has headlined at many of Wilmington’s most popular venues, including The Reel Cafe, Social House of Tequila, The Husk, Bonita, The Bend, and Pravda. Known for his versatility and crowd-reading skills, he delivers the right track at the perfect moment, keeping dance floors energized and connected.

Off-stage, Río is deeply involved in his community. He actively collaborates with UNCW’s Centro Hispano and other local organizations to promote Latin culture and celebrate diversity. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, private party, or club night, Río brings professionalism, rhythm, and a commitment to unforgettable experiences.
